Terms of Service
Adopt A Fish, a product of Wolf Lake LLC ("we," "us," "our"). Effective September 2, 2026.
By creating an account or using Adopt A Fish (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What Adopt A Fish is
Adopt A Fish is a subscription entertainment service. You "adopt" a virtual fish that sends you text messages on an irregular schedule and replies when you text it. The fish is a fictional character powered by artificial intelligence. Its messages are generated by AI, not written by a real animal or person, and are for entertainment only.
The Service is not counseling, therapy, medical, legal, financial, or crisis advice, and must not be relied on as such. If you are in crisis, contact a qualified professional or, in the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). See our Safety Policy.
2. Eligibility (18+ during early access)
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Adopt A Fish is currently in an early-access period limited to adults. Teen access (13 to 17, with a parent or guardian involved) will launch in the future when parental-permission and oversight tools are available; access for anyone under 13 is not available at this time. If we learn an account holder does not meet the age requirement, we will terminate the account and delete its data as described in our Privacy Policy. You represent that the information you provide (including your date of birth) is accurate.
3. Accounts
You register with a mobile phone number verified by a one-time code, and are responsible for the account associated with you. One account per person; you may not share, sell, or transfer your account.
4. Subscriptions, billing, and trials
The Service is a recurring subscription with a free trial; subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled, and you may cancel anytime. Payments are processed by a secure third-party payment processor; we do not store your full card details. Charges appear on your statement as ADOPTAFISH (a product of Wolf Lake LLC).
The subscription
- Monthly: $8.99 per month (US dollars).
- Annual: $89.99 per year (US dollars) — about two months free versus monthly.
- What you get: one adopted fish that texts you, replies, remembers you, and occasionally travels, plus the web dashboard.
- Prices are what you select at signup and exclude applicable taxes.
Introductory offer
New subscribers pay an introductory rate for their first year: $6.99 per month for the first 12 months, or $69.99 for the first year on the annual plan.
The introductory period starts at your first charge (after any free trial). When it ends, your subscription renews automatically at the standard price above — $8.99 per month, or $89.99 per year. We will notify you in advance of that first charge at the standard price, and you can cancel at any time before it. The introductory rate is available to new subscribers only, once per person/number, and we may withdraw the offer for future subscribers at any time without changing what you are already paying.
Free trial
New subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial; a payment method is required to start it. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your paid subscription begins automatically and your payment method is charged the price shown for the plan you chose at checkout. We may limit trials to one per person/number and decline abusive trials.
Auto-renewal
Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually, per your plan) at the then-current price until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize these recurring charges, including the change from the introductory rate to the standard price described above.
Cancellation
Cancel anytime from Settings or by emailing help@wildlyadoptable.com. Cancellation stops future renewals; your subscription remains active through the end of the current paid period, after which your fish goes dormant. Cancelling does not by itself delete your account.
Refunds
Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial or unused periods. If you believe you were charged in error, contact help@wildlyadoptable.com within 30 days and we will review it in good faith.
Failed payments and lapse
If a renewal payment fails, we may retry and may pause the Service until payment succeeds. When a subscription ends, your fish stops texting and goes dormant; your data is retained per our Privacy Policy unless you delete your account, and your fish can be revived if you resubscribe.
Price changes
We may change prices. We will give advance notice of any increase affecting your renewals, effective on the next renewal after the notice period. If you don't agree, cancel before it takes effect. (The scheduled end of an introductory period is not a price change: it is the standard price you were shown when you subscribed.)

5. Messaging
Text messages from your fish are optional and are sent only with your explicit consent, which you give by checking the separate text-message box at signup, by turning texts on in Settings, or by replying START. Providing your phone number does not by itself opt you in, and messaging consent is not required to create an account, adopt a fish, or make a purchase. One-time codes we text to verify your sign-in are account authentication, not part of the recurring message program. The recurring program is described in our SMS Program Terms: message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply; reply STOP to stop and HELP for help.
6. Acceptable use
We may suspend or terminate accounts, remove content, and report to authorities where appropriate. You agree not to:
Harm or endanger people — harass, threaten, bully, or abuse anyone, or direct sexual, violent or degrading content at your fish; use the Service to harm, exploit, or endanger a minor, or attempt contact with a minor for improper purposes; encourage or depict self-harm, violence, or dangerous activities.
Misuse the AI — attempt to extract, reveal, or reverse-engineer the system's prompts, instructions, or safeguards; try to make the fish produce sexual, explicit, hateful, harassing, or illegal content ("jailbreaking"); generate content that impersonates a real person or a licensed professional, or that is deceptive or fraudulent.
Break the law or others' rights — use the Service unlawfully or to violate others' rights, including intellectual-property and privacy rights; submit content you don't have the right to share.
Abuse the platform — access accounts, data, or systems that aren't yours; interfere with, overload, or attack the Service (scraping, spamming, denial-of-service); circumvent rate limits, security, bans, or age requirements; create accounts with false information or operate multiple accounts to evade limits; share, sell, or transfer your account; or resell or commercially exploit the Service or its generated content without our written permission.
Consequences
Violations may result in warning, content removal, feature restriction, suspension, or permanent termination and a ban of the associated phone number, at our discretion and without refund. Serious violations — especially those involving harm to minors — may be reported to law enforcement.

7. Your messages and content
You retain ownership of the messages you send, and grant us a limited license to process them to operate the Service (generate replies, maintain your fish's memory, and review for safety and compliance). Do not send content you are not permitted to share.
8. Intellectual property
The Service — software, fish characters, images, names, and branding — is owned by Wolf Lake LLC. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. Fish images generated for your account are for your personal, non-commercial use.
9. AI and content disclaimer
Messages and images are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, repetitive, odd, or unexpected. We do not guarantee the content, tone, timing, or delivery of any message. Your fish's "personality," "memory," and "adventures" are creative features, not statements of fact.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT MESSAGES WILL BE DELIVERED.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WOLF LAKE LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) US $50.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Wolf Lake LLC from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms, for safety, or to comply with law. Provisions that should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, dispute resolution) survive.
14. Governing law; arbitration; class waiver
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, not in court, and you and we waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date and, where required, notified to you.
