Safety & Minors Policy
Adopt-A-Fish, a product of Wolf Lake LLC. Effective July 24, 2026.
Adopt-A-Fish is designed to be warm, playful, and low-stakes, and safety is built into the product from the start. The content standard is family-friendly for everyone.
Who can use Adopt-A-Fish
- Adults 18 and older during our early-access period. We verify eligibility with a date of birth at signup.
- Teens 13–17 are not able to create accounts yet. Teen access is planned for a future release and will not open until parental-permission and oversight tools ship.
- No one under 13, ever.
What your fish will never do
Your fish is a fictional, AI-generated character for gentle companionship and entertainment. It is designed not to: produce sexual, explicit, or age-inappropriate content; encourage self-harm, violence, disordered eating, or substance abuse; give medical, legal, financial, or mental-health advice or pose as a professional; solicit sensitive personal information or ask to move off the Service; or facilitate contact between users. Every message the fish sends is screened by automated moderation before delivery. Messages you send are automatically checked for crisis language and abuse signals and may be flagged for human safety review; this is a targeted safety check, not a full review of every message.
Crisis situations
Adopt-A-Fish is not a crisis service and cannot help in an emergency. If a message you send indicates you may be in crisis or considering self-harm, the Service is designed to step out of the fiction and share real resources rather than respond in character. This detection is automated and will not catch everything, so never rely on your fish in an emergency. In the United States you can reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988), or call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact emergency services right away.
The same wholesome experience for everyone
Adopt-A-Fish is built to be fun and appropriate for everyone. There is no separate "adult mode" or mature content — the same family-friendly standards, automated moderation, and crisis safeguards apply to every account. We continue to improve these protections.
Parents and guardians
During early access there are no teen accounts: every account holder is an adult. When teen access opens, it will launch with parental-permission and oversight tools, and this policy will describe them before any teen can sign up. If you believe someone under 18 is using an account today, email help@wildlyadoptable.com and we will investigate and remove it.
Reporting a concern
If a message worries you, or you believe a user is under 18 or is being harmed, email help@wildlyadoptable.com. We review reports promptly and may suspend accounts, remove content, or contact authorities where appropriate.
A note on the fiction
Your fish stays "in character" during normal conversation — that's the fun of it. But it is not a real creature, not a substitute for human relationships or professional care, and it will break character when your safety matters more than the story.
