Privacy Policy

Adopt-A-Fish, a product of Wolf Lake LLC. Effective July 24, 2026. Accounts are limited to adults 18 and older during early access.

1. Information we collect

  • Account & contact: mobile phone number (how your fish texts you), and optionally an email for receipts/recovery.
  • Age: your date of birth, collected at signup to confirm eligibility (18 and older during early access).
  • Your self-description: the short description you enter at signup, used once to create your fish and retained with your account.
  • Messages: the texts you exchange with your fish, and high-level "impressions" your fish remembers (deliberately vague and capped). Your fish may remember your first name, but we do not store last names, dates/birthdays, addresses, or other identifying details in these impressions.
  • Pictures and media: Your fish may send you pictures of itself (its portrait, the occasional postcard) as MMS. But if you send a picture, video, or other media, we do not download, open, store, or process it — your fish cannot receive images. We may record only that an attachment was sent (never its content), and we never retain the file.
  • Subscription & payment status: plan, trial status, billing state. Card payments are handled by a third-party payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Technical/usage data: IP address, device/browser info, timestamps, and logs, for security, abuse prevention, and operating the Service.

2. How we use it

To operate the Service (generate messages, deliver/receive texts, maintain memory, run adventures); to provide support, billing, and account management; to keep the Service safe (moderation, crisis detection, fraud/abuse prevention, enforcing our Terms); and to comply with law and carrier requirements. We do not sell your personal information and do not use your conversations for third-party advertising.

3. Service providers

We share limited data with vendors who process it on our behalf, in these categories: an AI provider (generates messages/images and screens content), an SMS/messaging provider (sends/receives texts), cloud database, storage, and hosting providers, and a payment processor. They may use the data only to provide their services.

4. Text messaging (SMS/MMS)

Adopt-A-Fish is a text-message service — your fish texts you, and you can text it back.

  • We never share your mobile number or SMS consent. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number, or your SMS opt-in and consent, with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is used only to operate the Service — delivering and receiving your fish's messages — and is processed only by our SMS/messaging provider for that purpose.
  • Message frequency. Frequency varies, typically 1 to 3 messages per day, never more than 8, only within the hours you choose.
  • Rates. Message and data rates may apply, according to your mobile carrier's plan.
  • Opt-out / help. Reply STOP at any time to stop messages, START to resume, or HELP for help. See our SMS Program Terms for details.

5. Age (18+ during early access)

Adopt-A-Fish accounts are currently limited to adults 18 and older, and we collect a date of birth at signup to enforce that. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 during early access; if we learn we have, we delete it. Teen access (13 to 17) is planned for a future release and will launch only together with parental-permission and oversight tools; this policy will be updated first. The content standard is family-friendly for everyone regardless.

6. Retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. You can delete your account anytime in Settings. Here is exactly what happens: your live data (messages, memories, fish, images) is removed from the Service right away, and you cannot recover the account. A restricted snapshot is retained for up to 14 days, accessible only to administrators, to handle safety issues, legal requests, and mistakes; it is then permanently purged. A minimal permanent record survives the purge: that an account existed for your number, when it was created and deleted, your SMS consent history, and any transaction records. Messaging-consent and payment laws require us to keep that proof. Message content is not retained past the 14-day window.

7. Security

We use access controls, encryption in transit, row-level database security, and least-privilege service credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of sale/sharing (we do neither). Email help@wildlyadoptable.com to exercise any right. We will not discriminate against you for doing so.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and security. We do not use advertising cookies.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
